Katete DC arrested for defiling granddaughter!Police Service have confirmed the arrest of Katete District Commissioner, Raphael Matawa Phiri, aged 65, for an alleged case of incest involving his granddaughter.According to Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, the suspect was apprehended in Chipata today, August 24, 2025, and is currently detained at Chipata Central Police Station.Mr. Phiri is accused of defiling his juvenile granddaughter. He is yet to be formally charged but is expected to appear in court soon. Mr. Hamoonga emphasised that the Police Service remains committed to upholding the law without fear or favour, regardless of a suspect’s position in society.More details are expected to be released as investigations progress.-Kanele
