Zambia Beat Senegal in WAFCON Thriller

BARBARA BANDA netted a brace as Zambia edged Senegal 3-2, boosting their chances of qualifying for the knockout stage of the WAFCON competition.
The Copper Queens concededconceded an early goal in the 5th minute when NGUENAR NDIAYE put Senegal ahead, but Zambia came from behind to secure the victory.
Copper Queens Captain BARBARA BANDA pulled one back in the 12th minute to bring Zambia level.
The first half ended 1-1, but the Copper Queens emerged with renewed energy in the second half, making up for missed opportunities.
Zambia took the lead in the 51st minute through a powerful strike from KUNDANANJI to make it 2-1.
In the second half, Copper Queens coach NORA HAUPTLE was shown a yellow card after attempting to observe the referee’s VAR check.
BANDA extended Zambia’s lead in the 73rd minute, scoring her third goal of the tournament and making it 3-1.
Senegal were awarded a penalty in the 76th minute after goalkeeper NGAMBO MUSOLE, who also received a yellow card, fouled NGUENAR NDIAYE.
NDIAYE converted the spot-kick in the 80th minute to score her second goal of the day and reduce the deficit to 3-2.
That remained the final score, as Zambia now sit on four points from two games at the ongoing tournament in Morocco.
